A small genus of Amaryllids from South America, varying reckoned on containing between two and five species, but their taxonomy is little studied and the genus, being quite inconspicuous is probably under-represented in literature and herbaria.
In the wild, in Chile at least, it likes damp to wet soils and shaded conditions, but in cultivation it is much more tolerant and neither are essential. They do appreciate good drainage and fertility in their compost and they will perhaps grow outside in the right conditions, being frost hardy down to -5°C.
