Hessea mathewsii

This is a rarely seen, rarely offered, plant with stunning hemispherical heads of flowers of intense rose pink, each individual bloom with a dark pink centre.

A glorious plant but sadly one of the rarest species, confined to a narrow strip of the Western Cape coastal belt near Saldanah Bay.

Cultivation is no problem, as for the other species in the genus and these have been raised from seed to flowering in something over 5 years.
