Convallaria
This is regarded as either one, very variable species (which seems somewhat extreme) or, more reasonably, as a small genus of closely related species comprising keiskei, majalis, montana and transcaucasica.
They are readily grown in a variety of situations, being very tolerant plants, but to flower them well they seem to like a fertile, well-drained, humus rich soil, in very light shade or full sun. So much however depends on your climate and location and fine tuning conditions can result in a spectacular increase in flowering performance.
You will know when you get it right as the fragrance from a flowering patch of this plant exceeds all others in simultaneous delicacy and power.
Supplied as long, thin dormant rhizomes.
Available for ordering from our Spring list with some species also available in late autumn.
