Muscari

It must be admitted, that there are many poor species of Muscari that would be best gracing a bonfire rather than a garden – weedy, non-flowering horrors. However, it would be a shame to condemn the many good species on the strength of some poor ones.

We offer what we think are some of the best. They are not “weedy” and have good characters such as exceptional colour or scent.

Most are suitable for outdoor cultivation in the UK, based on our own garden where they grow in a sunny, fertile, well-drained soil.

Available for ordering from our Autumn list only.

It has been suggested that some of the species of Muscari, should be separated into their own, distinct genera examples being Leopoldia and Pseudomuscari. More recent work suggests this is not correct after all and they do in fact belong within one, variable genus; Muscari. We have now abandoned listing these separately.
