Description

One of our newer Japanese introductions this has large, open, pale, copper-red flowers produced in abundance very early in the spring.

A sumptuous and very attractive cultivar, for a damp, humus-rich, well-drained, lightly shaded spot.

This is a selected, clonal hybrid involving multiflora and ramosa. We have called these amurensis but it is correctly “amurensis of Horticulture”

This selection is of the same type as the equally good Chichibubeni, however it differs in the intensity of its copper colouration, and less obviously in the shape and placement of its petals and sepals which are narrower but more numerous and which form a more bowl-shaped flower. Another sumptuous plant of the most wonderful colouring.
