Description
These are raised from a fascinating population from Kitami in Japan one of the few places in the world where both true amurensis and ramosa actually grow together. The stock includes true ramosa, true amurensis and hybrids between them as well as some possible back crosses to both parents. We suspect plants of different ploidy levels are also present.
These came to us a few years back and display a fascinating variation. We have not segregated or sorted them, so they are totally unselected and represent a good chance to perhaps find something a little different.
Most of the horticultural strain and cultivars in cultivation seem to have arisen from this cross or from populations like these. There are extensive notes on Adonis in our members’ area.
