Description
Although naturally a plant found only in North America much of the recent breeding in Anemonella has been in Japan where this new variety was raised. It was raised by Mr. Shiozaki, a famous breeder in Japan and selected for its large flower size which is fully double flower in the manner of Schoaffs Double though it is marginally larger and has a gorgeous, pale rose pink shade.
It bears 1-4 flowers per wiry stem with the finely divided, deep green foliage. Despite the delicate appearance of Anemonella, they are tough little plants and their early flowering means that the blooms stay in good condition, in the cool weather of early spring, for some weeks.
Part- or half-shade is best, in a well-drained but humus enriched soil which doesn’t dry out too much. It can be managed in pots, in the alpine house is wished, but beware too much direct sunshine or dryness.
