Description
Distinguished from its relative Anthericum liliago by a branched flower spike (it thus has more flowers!). This spike reaches some 60 cm long and up to 50 cm diameter.
It is composed of numerous white flowers, each 2 cm across, the purity of the white being broken only by the contrast with the chrome yellow anthers. The leaves, although up to 50 cm long, are at most 10-15 mm wide and grass-like.
A stunning plant for the open garden in a sunny, well drained, spot where it flowers reliably in July and August.
Originally collected for the Graz Botanical Garden in Slovenia, on Mount Caven, 1100 m, 1993.
