Description
Polished glossy 3-part leaves and an overhanging, hooded spathe of mahogany and translucent white. The spadix, in the centre, is deep purple-brown. The whole plant grows from a rather small, firm pink tuber. It appears quite late in the spring season, but develops and flowers rapidly after that.
A reliable and attractive species but for a plant that grows and increases well this is inexplicably scarce. This offering is raised here from an old central European stock of proven garden hardiness and vigour, happy in almost any soil and site that will grow a bulb. Ideally in a fertile loam, in full sun or very light shade.
