Description

SEP s.n.

This usually has two leaves, each with five to seven leaflets (when adult) in a ‘radiate disposition’ (looks a little like a Japanese Umbrella).

The spathe is pale jade-green, paler at the base and faintly striped white. The tip is elongated, upturned and coiled. Although it appears short it can reach a considerable length when (gently) pulled straight. (though it is not as long as in A. intermedium.

Very hardy and quietly attractive. This is from the western end of the Himalayas and is a rare plant, often confused in the trade with A. tortuosum although the two are totally unlike each other.

Slow growing in my experience and even flowering-sized tubers are seldom large however this strain, derived ultimately from the SEP Pakistan seed collection (without a collection number) is good and vigorous in the garden and makes good-sized tubers and produces seed readily.
