Description

Large, polished, deep-green leaves around an enormous spathe of deep rich purple-black wrapped around a spadix of an even darker sháde. Very attractive for an Arum and this does not have a bad smell either, which is rare in the darker species.

A vigorous and very growable, quite new species for a sunny, well-drained lime soil in full sun. Hardy here outside, growing well and increasing pleasingly without ever being a menace and certainly spectacular in flower.

Known for many years as “The Cretan Monster” following a find by Dr. Chris Lovell in Crete and finally named some years later. This stock is traceable to, and propagated from, a Cretan collection by a good friend, the late Vladimir Vasak.
