Description
A strong growing Japanese species from Shikoku Island. This makes clumps of glossy, evergreen leaves each up to 12cm long. In colour these can be green but in this clone they are beautifully zoned with a dark green outer zone, then pewter-coloured region to the leaf giving way to a dark green arrow-head which in turn yields to a central white stripe and basal marking of cream, the cream being concentrated towards the midrib and base of each leaf.
The flowers are normally deep purple to purple-brown, with a thin white or yellowish band around the edge of each petal however in this albino form, the red pigments have been lost though the flower does retain the beautifully elongated, almost lozenge-shaped flower of the type. A beauty and an easily pleased species.
