Description
A strong growing Japanese species from Shikoku Island. This makes clumps of glossy, evergreen leaves each up to 12cm long.
In colour these can be green but in this clone they are beautifully patterned in shades of silver and ash-grey, the silvering being concentrated towards the midrib of each leaf. (see gallery picture)
The flowers are usually deep purple to purple-brown, often with a thin white or yellowish band around the edge of each petal. However in this beautiful form, the flowers have lost all of their dark colourings and present as a delightful shade of pale primrose yellow with slightly wavy edges to the petals. A beauty and an easily pleased species.
