Description
A rare and little seen species from the Southern coastal Mediterranean region, including Turkey and Israel.
This has two, broad slightly twisted leaves, from the centre of which arises a slender stem bearing the flowers. These are slender and held on long pedicels, indeed “elongated” applies to the pedicels, flowers and flower spike!
The buds are purple-violet and erect but arch down slightly after opening when the petals become white with a sharp contrast between the white area and the purple-violet tube.
This likes a sunny site in a well-drained, loam soil.
