Description
This plant is superficially like a large, deeper purple form of B.californica but it has a longer tube and each anther filament is prolonged into a forked, white appendage. This gives the flower a very characteristic appearance quite evident to non-botanists.
Found in Central California, it is probably extinct in its Coast Range localities, due to the advance of agriculture.
Raised from CalHort seed.
