Description
This is an uncommon species with leaves closely pressed to the ground and edged in red. The flowers are borne on 15 cm tall stems (making this one of the dwarfest species) in late summer or early autumn prior to the emergence of the leaves.
Individual flowers are pink to peachy-pink toning to white or yellow in the throat and they are held in hemispherical umbels on red stalks.
Very attractive and an ideal species for cultivation in quite small pots, a 20 cm pot will be adequate for a mature bulb. Growth should be in a very well drained, sandy soil with some loam added but only a trace of humus. Dry over summer.
