Description
Little seen in cultivation, but apparently not uncommon in parts of central Natal, where it grows in grasslands.
This is unusual in having leaves that are fully developed at flowering time and which persist through the flowering period. These are undulate and beautifully glaucous. The flowers are borne in an unusual semi-globose umbel, with ascending pedicels which are more akin to Nerine than Brunsvigia.
The flowers themselves are also unusual in being deepest ruby-red or claret-coloured, up to 75 in each hemisphere.
