Description
This was first found at an altitude of 750m in the Falakros Mountains of Northern Greece, environs of Pyrgi. This is not one of our finds, it has come with the collection number GR 22/09 (found in 2009) though Pyrgi (not the one of the same name on Chios) is located not that far away, (some 12 Km) though at a slightly lower altitude, than our own find which we have offered as Colchicum autumnale Drama Bunch (CH.829) in the past.
It is a lovely floriferous and attractive form, paler than Drama Bunch in colouring and perhaps just a little more typical of the species as we know it in horticulture. It flowers in the earlier days of the Colchicum season with clusters of 10-15 (rarely to 20) soft, mid-pink flowers from each corm and with two bunches possible from larger corms this is superb for the garden being fully hardy and well adapted to cold damp conditions.
Introduced to our lists April 2025, (10 years after we offered Drama Bunch CH.829 for the first time).
