Description
Horticultural stocks are generally mis-named hybrids without kotschyi even in their parentage! This is the correct plant propagated from a collection made near Hunsan in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, in 1998, by the late Vladimir Vasak. It is the only true-to-name stock that I know of in commercial cultivation.
The genuine species has clusters of large starry, white to palest blush-pink flowers before the leaves, which are large, but neat and tidy – unlike the impostors.
Very VERY early flowering and this is usually in full bloom in July. A scarce rarity but easily grown, outside, in the garden.
Please bear in mind that if ordered with other plants which are sent in September, this will have already flowered when it is received. If flowering in its first season is essential for you, please order this separately from any other plants for a June despatch.
