Description
A robust, autumn species with rich purple-pink to deep violet-purple flowers, only faintly tessellated. The petals are notably thick in texture, thus the flowers are especially long-lasting. The broad, glossy leaves appear after the flowers in spring.
The name suggests Persia (Iran) but this is also found in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq to Turkey. It is possibly best in a bulb frame in colder countries but it will grow outside in a sunny, raised bed or bulb frame in our latitudes.
