Description
(formerly offered as C.k. White Edges)
Convallaria keiskei is a smaller growing species from Japan, China and adjacent Russia. The plant offered here is a selected, cultivated clone from Japan which has superb white edges to its leaves. There is some repeat of this here and there with echoes of paler stripes across the leaves as well, which enhances the variegated effect.
As is often the case with such strongly variegated forms, the variegation is most noticeable on the young leaves, in spring, but in this clone it does persist well, into the summer and beyond.
Flowering is in May and the small flowers, held in tight spikes are deliciously fragrant. Small red berries follow.
