Description
This is the last of all to flower here, doing so as late as May and into June some years.
It springs from VERY tiny creeping rhizomes looking like a miniature yellow worm, to make soft, delicate-looking, ferny foliage below dwarf spikes of bright red-purple flowers, quite unlike any other in shade.
This distinctive Siberian plant slowly makes a compact tuft in light leafy shade.
