Description
The lobed, rounded blue-glaucous leaves are hardly divided and sit at ground level under a short, lax spike of good-sized flowers which are white with the exception of a deep purple blotch at the mouth of the flower. With age the spur can also stain with red-purple and the photograph shows this, as a rule the flowers are paler and in fact rather closer in colour to our illustration of Corydalis erdelii. Soviet Central Asia.
Our original description, many years ago, suggested that this is probably best in a pot under glass where the plant can be dry-rested (but not baked and shrivelled) in the summer. 3 parts JI No.3 to 1 part grit would be suitable. We do not have enough of this rare species as yet to risk any outside, even in a bulb frame.
First offered in our lists 1981 but not re-offered until September 2019.
