Description

This is one of the several new deep red Corydalis selections from Arnis Seisums and is one of his very best. It is a sterile hybrid between Corydalis solida and Corydalis malkensis.

In depth of colour and brightness it more than holds its own against the very best of such favourites as ‘Zwanenburg’ and ‘George Baker’, though it is of a different shade. It beats both of those however in vigour and its robust appearance, reaching some 20cm tall at flowering and having larger flowers in a longer spike.
The flowers are nicely spaced out along the stem and not crowded together.

This is an early plant, flowering in advance of almost all of the solida selections and it has usually finished its flowering when the other red and orange forms have not even begun. Combining early-flowering, hybrid vigour, good growth, large size, superb colouring – this is simply a superb plant.

New to our lists in 2010.
