Description
A unique and stunning colour combination which catches the eye from a great distance and which remains one of the most conspicuous and lovely within the genus. Very lovely.
Each 3-4 cm bloom is white, finely lined with hairstreaks of very pale pink, the mouth of the flower has a large bright yellow blotch with a purple nose.
Native to just a few known localities in Central Asia but not at all difficult in cultivation. We have it under alpine glass or in plunged pots in unheated frames, in our standard, well-drained, sandy, loam based compost with a not over-severe, dry summer rest.
