Description
A fabulous plant from central Asia with blue-grey leaves each divided into several small, rounded lobes. The foliage is very attractive and forms a perfect backdrop for the individually large flowers.
These are of a good size and are intense golden yellow. Individual plants vary from chrome yellow or yellow-gold but the colouration is always strong, not pallid and not wishy washy.
The spurs are long and have an upturned tip (think Elizabethan curly-toed sandals) and soon after opening they develop a lovely red colouration that spreads along their length. The effect is entrancing and the species is, to my mind, one of the best.
Not difficult and can be grown as for the other central Asian species such as popovii or ledebouriana.
