Description

This was selected from seedlings of Crocus hadriaticus Purple Heart and was segregated and cloned for its especially large white flowers each of which has a prominent purple-caramel centre, formed from an overlay of yellow and purple pigments, both of which are clearly visible, in the areas where they do not quite overlap. I suspect, without proof, that this is the offspring of C. hadriaticus Purple Heart as the bride and C. mathewi as the groom, or an introgressed seedling from Purple Heart which is thought to be of this, same, parentage. The flowers are lightly fragrant blooms and are held on stout tubes. The tube is also a light brown.

A good grower here making reasonable increase with good flowering but without too many offsets.

Introduced to our lists in May 2021, the first (limited) release ever – from a 2014 selection.
