Description
(formerly reticulatus Janis Ruksans)
Once thought to be representatives of a true but variable species some plants thought to have been reticulatus are now known to have arisen as hybrids in horticulture between reticulatus and angustifolius. They are almost all sterile, however this lack of seed production lends great vigour to the resulting plants.
This is a medium-sized form but it is one of the most colourful, having strongly-marked, weather-resistant, 2.5cm long flowers with the resulting highly bronzed exterior being constantly visible, even when the flowers are closed. These are made in abundance in early spring and this is one of the earliest flowering of the leonidii siblings. Growth is strong and increase is excellent.
