Description
Large violet-purple flowers in October-November with a delicious and strong fragrance. One of the best of the autumn species.
It likes a well-drained, yet damp, garden spot. If you can offer overhead protection, from rain splash, with a shrub you will get pristine flowers.
This is a seed-raised strain (hand-pollinated seed) raised from selected plants which have a noticeable yellow tube and throat unlike many forms. The yellow throat picks up beautifully on the yellow of the anthers and contrasting red-orange stigmas.
