Description
(formerly Crocus cancellatus mazziaricus Pilion AH.8935)
This is a lovely form first found in Volos province, Greece, on Mount Pilion, growing on a stony slope at 750 m, 09.05.1989. This is in the centre of the distributional range of Crocus mazziaricus, once thought of as a subspecies of the related C. cancellatus but now raised to species level in its own right.
The ground colour of the flowers is white marked with thin blue lines and the shape is much more bowl-shaped than the Parnassus clone.
