Description
(formerly Crocus pallasii pallasii VV.KR.75)
The petals, which are normally heavily marked in species of the sativus group, are but lightly marked in this species, which has only faint, parallel, violet stripes.
In contrast however, the ground colour, which is normally very pale in this group, is a lovely deep lilac-violet. There are bright yellow anthers and bright red stigmas in the centre.
This is a strong growing clone, raised from Turkish material originally found by the late Vladmiri Vasak, the best do-er and a stunning garden plant, as well as a reliable source of saffron in our climate.
