Description
This is the name (x paulinae) for the natural hybrid discovered in Turkey, between Crocus abantensis and angustifolius. Further details are in The New Plantsman, 1999,pages 43-45.
The flowers are large and have a ground colour of yellow with a deep yellow centre, yellow anthers and a small orange style. The petals tone gradually to a rich burnished bronze at the tips and the exterior is sometimes infused with chestnut tones which show through. A remarkably fusion of a yellow parent and a virtually blue parent!
A very decorative plant, named in honour of Pauline M. Dean a botanical artist who has illustrated many of the newer Crocus discoveries.
