Description
(syn. Crocus pallasii turcicus)
Raised from seed sold by Jim and Jenny Archibald JJA.349.961 (the number refers to their population reference, it is not, in this case, a collection number). The original collection was made by Chris Lovell and Peter Bird 363. Jim subsequently described it as an elegant but not well-defined, race from SE Turkey, Lebanon & Syria. He suggested that it had more pointed segments and corms with long, fibrous necks.
Easily grown in the garden in a sunny spot in a well-drained soil or compost where it will make its pale violet flowers, darker in the throat (on the outside) readily. The inner throat is finely lined with purple hairstreaks, contrasting well with red styles and pale yellow anthers..
