Description

A species endemic to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus where it is said to grow in stony or grassy places in scrub. It flowers there in Autumn and early Winter and is little different in cultivation where it makes its cheery, star-shaped flowers from December onwards with us.

These flowers are small to medium- sized and are white with some purple veining or lining on outer petals, rarely the purple is almost black. The throat is bright yellow.

In very cold areas this may need some protection but we do not offer the bulbs this here, they get standard Crocus conditions of full sun and good drainage in a fertile loam soil.
