Description
(Blue dicks, Purplehead)
A little seen species in cultivation but very worthwhile with a wiry stem bearing a head which contains 2-15 flowers. These can be blue, violet, purple or even white. The flowers are of a good size for a Dichelostemma and usually face upwards so that you can see the paler throat with an almost white central beak.
Likes a dry summer rest. Happiest in a well-drained sunny loam, where this may well occur naturally anyway. Arizona, California, Oregon, Utah, New Mexico, and northern Mexico.
Raised from NNS.00-234 however I have no more data on this stock other than this number, not even a collector.
