Description
This has broad, almost round, closely-spaced leaves which zigzag either side of a short stem. The leaves also have rounded tips from which emanates a broad golden-cream pattern resembling sweeping brush strokes.
Confluent at the left tip these thin and become less intense along the length of the leaf, visually strengthening the variegated effect at the tip. Very distinctive and rather splendid.
This is one for full sun or transient shade at most, in a well drained, humus rich spot where it can be left to gently clump up with time.
‘Utage’ is banquet or feast in Japanese.
