Description
A rarely seen native of the western United States. This has tough, oval leaves with a blunt end (without the drip tips of D. hookeri), and lovely pendant, cream to white flowers in April. The growths are also more sideways-spreading than hookeri (above ground).
Later in the season, after flowering, the branched stems become covered in decorative, rough-coated, berries which ripen in the autumn. Though they start life green, they then turn to white, then as colour develops they pass through yellow to their mature colour of orange-red!
Leafy soil in part shade but tolerant, especially once rooted in.
