Description
Narrow, un-lobed, spear-head shaped leaves with prominent veining. Sometimes these are lightly speckled or sprinkled with white flecking.
The inflorescence is a superb deep violet-black, velvet-textured spathe surrounding a thickened, rounded spadix redolent with the smell of warm dung.
This is one of the most striking of the central Asian Aroids, in both the visual and olfactory senses. To Aroid lovers I am sure that this pungency will either not matter, or be an added bonus to an already stunning species.
It enjoys a hot, well-drained spot outside in the UK in a deep and fertile, loam-based soil.
