Description

Large reflexed white flowers with a broad golden band in the throat and usually a trace of red-pencilling inside. There are several flowers borne on each scape once the plant is established.

Readily grown and flowered outside in a well-drained, yet moisture retentive soil rich in humus. It will take full sun in such a situation, though it prefers a touch of shade at some time during the day, or very light shade throughout the day. This is one of the best of all of the species for garden use, making a tremendous display of multi-flowered spikes reliably each year.

This is a seed-raised stock, showing a delightful, if slight, variation within the degree of yellow in the throat, the intensity of the rusty throat markings and the patterning of the leaves.
