Description
Large pink-purple flowers with a throat which is spotted and striped with soft brown or Indian-red, contrasted by a white margin. This is perhaps the deepest coloured of all of the cultivars, but has been in short supply some years, so that we have now worked up a larger stock ourselves.
Raised by G.C. van Meeuwen in 1937, Erythronium dens-canis Purple King was introduced by L. Slikker, both in the Netherlands. This clone received a Trial Garden award from the Royal (Dutch) General Bulbgrowers’ Association in 1960.
