Description
This has one to several (depending on vigour) pale to mid pink flowers with the throat area picked out in a contrasting yellow. The flower is quite open and flat, displaying well.
Although this species and the related Fritillaria gibbosa display horns on the petals, where the deeply impressed nectaries are situated, Fritillaria ariana differs in having no tessellations on the face of the petals in the flower.
A very attractive member of the Rhinopetalum group from central Asia, revelling in a very well-drained compost with a dry (but not desiccating) summer rest.
