Description
This has slender stems topped by beautifully textured, shiny, deep purple-black bells dusted outside with a grape-like “bloom” and showing ruby “lights” in the sun. The inside of the flower is paler but is still as beautiful. Two to three flowers are usually held on each, comparatively short stem.
This is one from altitude in the Caucasus Mountains where it gets rainfall throughout the year thus it adapts well to cultivation in the UK and is happy in a garden spot in humus-rich soil, or potted with a cold winter rest and not too much of a harsh summer rest.
