Description

A variety bred and introduced as part of a range by J. Eckhart in the Netherlands, between about 1947 and 1956 (the earliest and latest dated awards we have been able to trace). It has large flowers with a pale background but very good strong red-purple colouring (described as red-violet when introduced).

The flower is shorter, top to bottom than many clones and uniquely in this clone, the petals flare outwards towards the tips, especially as the flower ages. Growth is just as easy as for the normal forms, however this plant can only be increased vegetatively to be entitled to the name and so is more expensive.
