Description

ex AH.8960 (1989)

A relative of F. graeca, once considered a form of it, but it is one which looks nothing like that plant!

F. thessala is substantially taller and is very different both in its colouring and shape, with up to three large jade bells chequered with brown-coral, on 25 cm stems.

Originally from plants found at over 1,500 m in the Katara Pass of Northern Greece this is excellent in the garden as it is an upland form well used to summer dampness. We have used “ex” as a term to indicate that this is from close-pollinated seed of the original collection, set and raised in cultivation.
