Description

A very robust hybrid with almost globular, honey-scented fragrant blooms early in the year. The outer petals are well formed and slightly clawed at the base, the inners are marked with a characteristic  green V-mark which has an almost frayed u[[per edge but a sharply defined lower edge where it moulds around the U-shaped sinus on the tips of the inside.

An excellent grower and a superb garden plant, sent to E. A. Bowles by, and named after, Samuel Arnott (1852–1930), the then Provost of Dumfries in the late 19th Century this has retained its popularity over the years. Makes a good dependable display. AM.1951 (RHS)
