Description

A lovely white form of the European Gladiolus italicus which entered cultivation from the USA, originally as a white form of Gladiolus byzantinus (which it is not).

In spring it makes narrow and unobtrusive, sword-shaped leaves and shortish flower stems which reach only 30-45 cm tall. These bear pristine and unmarked, pure white flowers in April or May, depending on your climate. It then yellows and dies away until the following spring. The corms, like the plant are proportionately smaller, they may not look massive on receipt, they are however fully flowering sized.

Well-drained, loam soil in full sun or in the company of dwarf herbaceous species. Feeding will help build size and maintain flowering, as will lifting and cleaning every 2-3 years.
