Description
A new plant offered for the first time in 2019. Gladiolus tristis aestivalis is a form which, as a rule, makes its flowers around one month later than normal tristis here. In addition it has noticeably more colourful flowers with an infusion of pink-brown at the petal tips. Overall it is also a little bit shorter than regular tristis.
While Goldblatt & Manning don’t recognise this as a variety, however this is a very distinct ecotype at the very least and an excellent garden addition for its later flowering and more colourful flowers. The photo is of our plants.
