Description
This has a very loose and open bulb quite unlike the tight, hard, compressed bulbs of most species. The bulb gives rise to a pair of very deep green leaves which are pressed flat against the ground. These leaves are edged with a dense band of claret-coloured hairs.
The flower spike is held on a red stem, yet the flowers are white or pastel-pink, maturing to mid-pink and contrasted with yellow anthers.
The spelling of the species name as lanceifolius, by the way, is the correct one.
Our stock is raised from the Van Rhynsdorp population.
