Description
This is a sister clone to Helleboruѕ atrorubenѕ Mazarine (which was originally received as a sample “dark blue form” from Leon Doyen in the Netherlands). He collected several extreme colour forms of the species at Zumbaraic, in Croatia. There is a dark graphite colour shading on the exterior of the flowers, quite different to the metallic blueish shades of Mazarine and in this instance the Negritа does refer to the girl’s name.
Leon Doyen collected many interesting plants when he was in former Yugoslavia including several notable Helleborus forms found over Serpentine rocks.
