Description
Beautifully cut, tooth-edged leaves are borne with the flowers early in the year and although these are tough they are usually shed by the plant before winter (thus helping to distinguish this from odorus, though the lines are not well-defined).
Stems up to 45 cm tall each bear several, good-sized, early flowers of green with a hint of yellow to them (Graham Rice reports that this is one of the species involved in the creation of the yellow hellebore hybrids).
A new stock of a desirable cold-resistant form collected as seed by Leon Doyen in the high mountains of Macedonia in 1995.
